I grew up on the Southeast side of San Antonio, just a simple kid during what then seemed a simple time. I rode my bike until the street lights came on and then played outside until it was time to go to bed. I graduated from Highlands High school in 1989 and Joined the US Navy where I learned to operate Heavy Machinery as a Seabee. I came back home and in 1991 I applied for the San Antonio Police Department, after 26 weeks of training I hit the streets, a young 21 year old rookie. Little did I know at that time that the lessons needed to have a full life were about to unfold before me. I saw the best and worst of society and I needed only God to guide me. I applied myself and learned my calling, bumps and bruises along the way, I would sometimes fall short but never all the way. After 10 years of service on the streets, I felt the pull to my next challenge. I grew up in that police car and had honed my skills as a professional law enforcement officer, so I took the next step and decided to teach the next generations of Public servants to come. I went back to the academy, as a Police instructor, and now have the privlidge to inspire San Antonio's finest on a daily basis. During these years I also found time to maintain my commitment to my country as a Reservist, this time with the US Airforce. I served as a Military Training Instructor (Also known as a Drill Instructor to civilian types) with the 433d Training Squadron. I Love to Motivate the young recruits and police cadets. However, I do it all out of love with the full knowledge of what their country and community will ask of them on a daily basis. I tell my trainees that life is actually boot camp 24/7, "You are going through something today, to know how to deal with something in your future. " I have continued to apply these words to my life and have seen the rewards they bring. I continue to Trust God, who has saved my neck on more occasions than I care to remember, I treat people with fairness and dignity, as it is the only way to maintain peace within yourself. I say "I love you" often to those that mean the most to me, as you are never promised tomorrow. If I were to give anyone advice about living, it would be to remember "God doesnt call the qualified, he qualifies the called."  We must all give our best everyday.
